With so many local family attractions nearby, you really won’t struggle to keep the kids entertained on a holiday in North Devon. Here are just a few of our local favourites...

Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park

Only a short drive away from Wheel Farm Cottages is the Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park, home to a fantastic array of reptiles, exotic birds and wildlife, including lions, penguins, sea lions and meerkats, and plenty of animatronic dinosaurs hidden amongst its tropical trees and not forgetting, its enclosed ferocious Tyrannosaurus. There is also an onsite museum, plenty of cafes and a new large indoor soft play area.

Exmoor Zoo

Famous for being home to the Exmoor beasts, the award-winning Exmoor Zoo is also home to 175 other breeds of animals, including wolves, exotic birds and many smaller animals rarely seen in larger zoos. There are also many live talks, with experts where you find out more and can get closer to the animals and with a fantastic outdoor play area and cafe/restaurant, it’s a great day out, whatever your age.

Watermouth Castle

On the edge of Combe Martin, Watermouth Family Theme Park and Castle is a great family attraction for families with small children. Visitors can enjoy a Victorian castle, with its nostalgic displays and creepy dungeons, a range of rides, a Gnomeland, a maze, outdoor play equipment, water play area and beautiful gardens.

Quince Honey Farm

The Quince Honey Farm at South Molton is home to one of the largest bee exhibitions, where visitors can discover the unique journey from ‘hive to jar’ and can see the inner workings of the honey bee. The Play Hive hosts a  fantastic indoor play area and a Critter Cabin has a whole world of bugs for you to explore.

Enjoy a traditional cream tea in the cafe and buy the honey and other products from the gift shop. There is also a new outdoor play area and picnic area.
