Things to do near Wheel Farm

The cottages at Wheel Farm are set within a quiet, rural countryside setting, but are only a few minutes’ drive from the seaside village of Combe Martin, where you will find a wide range of restaurants, cafés, pubs and independent shops. The village also has its own family friendly beach and a selection of attractions to suit all ages.

The glorious goldens sands at Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton are all within a 20-minute drive. They are a popular choice with families and water-sport enthusiasts; for rock pooling, surfing, sand castle building and sun bathing. During the busier summer months, smaller and more secluded beaches, such as Lee Bay, Barricane and Hele Bay offer excellent, quieter alternatives to the more well-known beaches.

Ilfracombe, a popular seaside town, with its beautiful harbour, historic tunnels beaches, famous Damien Hirst statue ‘Verity’ and its wonderful mix of quaint tea rooms and good quality restaurants make it a great place to visit. Other enjoyable days outs include exploring the delights of Exmoor National Park, perhaps a lovely circular walk to Heddon’s Mouth, or a visit to Lynton and Lynmouth, where a trip on the ‘cliff railway’ is a must.

Within easy reach of the cottages there are several attractions, including Exmoor Zoo, Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park, Watermouth Castle and the National Trust managed Arlington Court. There really is something for everyone, no matter what their age!
